Mission Valley is known for its wide array of attractions including shopping, restaurants, and parks. Although it was agricultural land until the mid 20th century, it developed to be one of the main commercial districts of San Diego. Here, multi-family residential properties represent the bulk of housing stock because of the relatively higher-density development of the area. Some great communities and areas within Mission Valley are Escala, San Diego Mission, Fashion Valley, Hotel Circle, and Friars Road.
